Notorious con artist Joseph Gakono arrested in Kirinyaga selling 2 Ostrich eggs for Ksh.600k

Detectives acting on a tip-off from members of the public on Monday pounced on Joseph Gakono who has been obtaining money by false pretence.

According to Gichugu sub-county Police commander Anthony Mbogo, detectives were pursuing the suspect following several complaints.

During the Monday afternoon arrest, the suspect was ambushed by cops while in the process of selling two Ostrich eggs for Ksh.600,000.

Several of his victims said they had been threatened with death after demanding their money back.

The suspect is also said to have been on the run after getting wind of his impending arrest.

Earlier in the year, the suspect was being sought by police officers for obtaining Ksh.98,000 from Caroline Karimi whom he had promised a firewood supply contract at a local school.

He is also said to have obtained Ksh.320,000 from Joseph Mwangi after lying that he would sell him a piece of land in Kutus.

He will be arraigned in court on Tuesday with detectives saying they will seek to hold him for two more days to allow his victims record statements.
