NPSC invites applications for Deputy Inspector General of Police position

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has invited applications for the position of Deputy Inspector General of Police. 

Through an advertisement in the dailies on Tuesday, NPS chairperson Eliud Kinuthia stated that all interested qualified persons should tender in their applications on or before March 26, 5:00 pm.

To qualify for the position, Kinuthia stated that one must be a Kenyan citizen, must have a degree from a notable university in Kenya and has a distinguished career in their respective fields.

They also need to have served in the police service for at least fifteen years and are experienced in matters relating to criminal justice, security, law, sociology, policy development and public administration.

The position mandates its holder to serve under the direction and command of the Inspector General. They will also be entitled to a monthly salary and respective benefits as determined by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).

Applications must have a detailed Curriculum Vitae, copies of relevant academic and professional certificates and other supporting documents.

Mr. Kinuthia also emphasized that one should indicate 'Application for the position of the Deputy Inspector General - Kenya Police Service' in the documents.

Applicants should also attach clearance forms from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Shortlisted candidates will be published in the print media.

The position of Deputy IG fell vacant after Edward Mbugua retired from the post on Monday. NPSC has appointed Abdalla Komesha in an acting capacity for 14 days pending the filling of the position.
