NTSA suspends Sacco in deadly Thursday road crash

Road carnage has claimed the lives of 941 Kenyans in the last four months alone.

This is a revelation from the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA), which, however, notes that this is a reduction from 1,025 people who died in road accidents in the same period last year.

According to NTSA Managing Director, Francis Meja, a majority of those who have lost their lives in the road crashes are pedestrians.

Meja is now calling on employers in the transport industries, especially in the trucking industry, to allow their drivers sufficient time to rest in their long journeys to tame crashes caused by them.

This comes as NTSA suspended license of Umowa Sacco from Machakos County after Thursday crash that killed eight people near Malili on Mombasa-Nairobi road and order drivers to undergo medical check.
