Chaos at burial as MP snatches microphone from aspirant
West Mugirango
Constituency MP aspirant Steve Mogaka has strongly condemned acts of violence witnessed
on Tuesday during the burial of Mzee Mogaka Rira in Nyasore village, Nyamaiya
area in Nyamira County.
The aspiring MP who is running on a Jubilee party ticket, under the
Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party now wants his opponents in the Kenya
Kwanza camp to shun violence during campaigns.
This follows the Tuesday dramatic incident where his rival and the
incumbent MP Vincent Kemosi of the Ford Kenya party forcefully grabbed a
microphone from Mogaka as he was addressing the gathering.
To counter the ensuing drama, enraged mourners are said to have chased
away the lawmaker following his actions.
Addressing the press on Wednesday in Kisumu, Mogaka now wants the
Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to take stern action
against Kemosi for attempting to cause violence.
"I don’t know why Vincent Kemosi would make an attempt on my life,
the decision of who is to be the MP for West Mugirago on the 9th of August
rests on the people," Mogaka said.
Attempts to get a
comment from Kemosi were futile as calls to him went unanswered.
