Nyandarua leader laments rise in suicide cases

Nyandarua North Deputy County Commissioner Tobiko Naiyoma has decried the rising cases of suicides in the region especially amongst the men.

Speaking at Ndaragwa Stadium during this year’s Jamhuri Day Celebrations on Minday, Naiyoma said it was unfortunate that suicide cases were on the rise and called on area chiefs and their assistants to help the communities to look into alternative ways and means of solving their problems.

The DCC emphasized the need for families and other members of the public to help such individuals to overcome their challenges instead of  standing by as they take their own lives.

He further called on all leaders to conduct frequent sensitization and public awareness forums.

The DCC at the same time called on youths operating boda bodas to observe traffic rules and regulations in order to avert unnecessary accidents.

While noting that majority of them lacked necessary training and documents to operate boda bodas, Naiyoma said that unfortunately boda bodas have become killer machines on the roads.

On voter registration, the Deputy County Commissioner urged residents to ensure they register as voter in order to actively participate in the forthcoming 2017 General Election.

He also challenged aspirants to conduct their campaigns peacefully while respecting the rights of others.

He said the government was on the lookout and would not hesitate to arrest and prosecute those who use statements that would incite Kenyans to cause mayhem during the campaigns.
