Nyando gun holders risk arrest over licence verification
Licensed gun holders in Nyando, Kisumu County risk arrest for failing to present firearm certificates to police for verification.
Nyando OCPD, Mohamed Amin, has issued a stern warning to the gun holders against using their firearms unlawfully by intimidating the innocent civilians.
Speaking to Radio Citizen, Amin urged all civilians having guns in the area to present the certificate of issuance to the police for verification.
“We have asked them to bring the certificates so that we can confirm if it is genuine or not so that we can have the names and the exact number of people who have firearms,” said Amin.
The police boss said cases of civilian misusing the firearms have been reported in the area and security officers will not hesitate taking action against those misusing the firearms.
Mr Amin also stated that for security purpose, it is advisable to study the guns and keep their details which would help in monitoring how weapons are managed and used.
