Nyayo Stadium is reportedly already packed ahead of the memorial service of former president Daniel Moi that is set to begin at 10am.

Members of the public, in their thousands, started streaming into the stadium at 4am and were given red t-shirts and caps branded with Moi’s portrait and the words “Mkae Kwa Amani.”

More Kenyans are still trooping in but gates to the stadium are expected to be closed anytime soon as it can only hold a maximum of 30,000 people.

Security officers were earlier spotted patrolling Valley Road leading to the Lee Funeral Home to close it off from the public.

The casket of the late president Moi has made its way to State House and will later proceed to Nyayo Stadium.

President Uhuru Kenyatta is among at least 7 Heads of State expected at the memorial service.
