The National Youth Service (NYS) is seeking to recruit volunteer servicemen and servicewomen across the country.

In an advertisement shared by Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria, the recruitment exercise will take place between February 5 and 9, 2024.

The exercise will take place in all sub-counties in Kenya.

Those interested must meet several requirements, among them a minimum of a D (plain) and above in their KCSE exams.

Others are:

- Be a Kenyan Citizen and a resident of the respective sub-county one is applying from.

- Be between 18-24 years of age.

- Be in possession of original National ID and academic certificates at the recruitment venue.

- Have a certificate of good conduct.

- Be ready to undergo medical check-up during and after the recruitment exercise.

- Be ready to undergo rigorous physical training.

- Be ready to voluntarily serve in any part of Kenya.

Successful candidates will be directed when to report to NYS training colleges in Gilgil and Naivasha.

Orphans will be given priority during the recruitment drive, as long as they produce evidence such as death certificates and burial permits.

Persons living with disabilities have also been encouraged to apply, as long as they can withstand the rigorous physical training.
