Anne Ngirita, one of the prime suspects charged over the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal has joined the 2022 political race seeking to be elected to Parliament.

Ngirita who had initially joined the UDA party decamped to Jubilee on Tuesday as she seeks to contest for the Nakuru County Woman Representative seat.

Speaking at the Jubilee branch offices in Milimani, Nakuru County, Ngirita said she had initially joined UDA out of peer pressure.

She added that she wants to be part of the Azimio La Umoja movement led by ODM leader Raila Odinga.

"Yes nilikua kwa chama ya UDA but nilitoka mimi mwenyewe. Nilitoka kwa sababu Baba (Raila) and Uhuru walisema turudi nyumbani nikaona nilikua nimepotea. Ilikua out of peer pressure," Ngirita said.

She says she wants to join parliament to fight for the rights of youth and women.

"Mimi nataka kusaidia youth na kina mama. Mimi najua zile shida youth wanapitia," she said.
