All six suspects in the murder case of Albert Ojwang have pleaded not guilty before Kibra Law Courts Lady Justice Diana Rachael Kavedza.

The suspects include Central Police Station OCS Samson Kiprotich Talaam, Police Constable James Mukhwana, Peter Kimani, John Ngige Gitau, Gin Ammitou Abwao, and Brian Mwaniki Njue,

The lawyers representing the accused persons have requested the court to grant their clients bail, arguing that they are not a flight risk.

The request was vehemently rejected by the prosecution, which argues that the suspects are likely to tamper with evidence and interfere with witnesses.

On Monday, the plea hearing was postponed after officers Gitau and Kimani lacked legal representation. As of Monday, June 23, more than 20 police officers had recorded statements over the brutal murder of Ojwang while in police custody.

The tragedy elicited public uproar, prompting Police Inspector General Eliud Lagat to step aside to allow for what authorities termed an "uncompromised" investigation.

All eyes are on the investigating authorities to uncover the truth over Ojwang's murder and bring an end to police brutality.
