A section of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders have now threatened to pull out of the broad-based government arrangements should the state fail to arrest and arraign the killers of Kasipul Member of Parliament Charles Ongondo Were.

They want a speedy probe into the brutal murder of the MP, who was shot by assailants in Nairobi on Thursday.

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga Wanga, Senator Moses Kajwang, National Assembly Minority Whip Millie Odhiambo and Homa-Bay Town MP Opondo Kaluma claim that the murder of Were was well planned by the government agency and executed by trained gun holders.

Speaking on Saturday at Were’s home in Kasipul constituency, Wanga said ODM signed a working agreement with the ruling Kenya Kwanza administration to address the problems facing Kenyans, but not to address extra-judicial killings.

Peter Kaluma and Millie Odhiambo stated that they are ready to pull out of the arrangements should the state delay in giving a comprehensive report on the murder of Kasipul MP.

Kaluma argued that the future of the broad-based government arrangements will rely on how the government handle the murder of  Were.

On the other hand, Kabondo Kasipul MP Eve Obara and her Teso North counterpart Okuu Kaunya asked the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) to retrieve and review the CCTV cameras around the scene where the MP was killed and apprehend the murderers before the burial of Were.
