ODM Nominations: Robert Alai wins Kileleshwa MCA ticket as Kibra MP Imran Okoth loses

Controversial blogger-turned-politician Robert Alai will fly the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) flag in the Kileleshwa MCA race after winning the party primaries.

Alai beat out competition from 8 other aspirants to clinch the ticket, garnering 638 votes against his closest competitor Junior Tollo who managed 545 votes.

Perpetua Mponjiwa Okello came third with 364 votes followed by Victoria Angani (130), Eric Maikuma (52), Godfrey Omwono (21), Franklin Aluoch (10), Patrick Muhanji (5), and Derrick Mugendi (1).

In Kibra Constituency, incumbent Member of Parliament Imran Okoth lost his bid to defend the seat on an ODM ticket after losing out in the primaries held on Friday.

Peter Ochieng Orero won the Kibra MP ODM ticket after amassing 3,422 votes against Imran’s 2,739.

Tony Ogola followed with1,105 votes, then Erick Obayi (123), Ramogi William (82), and Melvin Moraa (72).

Imran Okoth won the Kibra MP seat in November 2019 in by-elections occasioned by the death of his brother and then MP Ken Okoth who succumbed to cancer.

In the same constituency, winners of the various ward seat tickets include; Cecilia Achieng (Laini Saba), Samson Ooko (Lindi), Rosemary Shitote (Makina), and Lawrence Odhiambo (Sarangombe).

The Raila Odinga-led party also carried out the nomination exercise in various wards in Ruaraka Constituency where winners emerged as follows: Jacob Ogutu (Baba Dogo), Abel Atito (Utalii), Oscar Lore (Mathare North), and Victor Ochola (Lucky Summer).
