ODM to name new-look elections board

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) is set to announce the members of the recomposed National Elections Board (NEB) Thursday afternoon after the party’s Central Management Committee disbanded the board on Tuesday and proposed a raft of measures ahead of the next year’s General Elections.

The party’s top organ, the National Executive Council (NEC), is expected to ratify the amendments proposed by the committee, among them the reconstitution of the board to assure it victory come 2017.

Judith Pareno, the chair of the disbanded Board, is likely to be retained as the chair in the new-look board according to sources.

The new-look Board is also likely to see positions distributed equally across all the regions.

Apart from its National Elections Board, the party is also considering the creation of a County Elections Board and a Constituency Steering Committee to help in the management and selection of candidates to fly its flag next year.

The National Executive Council will, however, not touch on the matters of Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba who resigned from the post of the Secretary General until the management committee receives his resignation letter and makes a proposal on the way forward.
