Officer arrested after allegedly defiling minor at police station in Homa Bay

A police officer was on Sunday arrested for allegedly defiling a 17-year-old girl who was remanded at Rangwe Police Station in Homa Bay County.

According to a police report, John Mwangi, who was manning the report office, visited the female cells at around 21:30 pm when the lights had gone off and opened the minor's cell.

Mwangi is then said to have held the minor's neck, forcefully undressed her, and then defiled her.

"At the time of the incident his colleague Tonny Oketch had gone to get a candle from his house since the area was dark," read the police report.

Upon a shift change in the morning, the victim informed Officer Oketch of the incident which prompted him to report the matter to the duty officer who informed the OCS.

An immediate search was conducted which led to Mwangi's arrest who is set to be arraigned in court today, Monday 20.

Meanwhile, the victim was taken to Rangwe sub-county hospital for medication.
