OGW Recipient Dr. Jyotee Trivedy unveils memoir chronicling over 65,000 surgeries
Dr. Trivedy, a recipient of the prestigious Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW), has performed over 65,000 cataract surgeries, 2,700 corneal transplants, and 4,500 glaucoma procedures, nearly half of which were free of charge to underserved populations throughout the region.

Mr. Sushil Prasad, Acting High Commissioner of India to Kenya, officially launched the memoir at an event attended by community leaders, diplomats, healthcare professionals, philanthropists, and grateful patients, some of whom paid emotional tribute to Dr. Trivedy's life-changing work.
Dr. Trivedy, a recipient of the prestigious Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW), has performed over 65,000 cataract surgeries, 2,700 corneal transplants, and 4,500 glaucoma procedures, nearly half of which were free of charge to underserved populations throughout the region.
"This is a story for anyone who has ever felt unseen — a reminder that your worth is not defined by the world’s filters," she said during her keynote address, drawing applause for her candid reflections on overcoming gender bias, colorism, and cultural expectations
Wings of Hope is described as more than a medical chronicle, as it captures Dr. Trivedy's lifelong mission to restore not only sight but also dignity and hope.
The Acting High Commissioner praised her legacy, calling her “a bridge between India and Kenya — not just in healthcare, but in the shared values of compassion and resilience.”
To mark the occasion, Dr. Trivedy announced a new round of free eye camps across Kenya, reaffirming her belief that “hope is not just a feeling, it’s an action.”
Dr. Trivedy is currently the Medical Director of Dr. Agarwal's Eye Hospital in Kenya, overseeing facilities in Nairobi, Mombasa, and other upcoming locations.
In addition to her surgical work, she mentors eye surgeons across Africa, is a dedicated marathoner, and a prominent cultural figure.
Her story, now captured in print, continues to inspire people across continents, having been recognized with awards from the Seychelles government, India's Ministry of Finance, and Kenya's President.
