One killed as communities clash in Migori

One person was killed when members of Maasai and Kuria communities clashed in Masurura village, in Transamara, Narok County.

Fighting erupted between the two communities following protracted disagreements, most of which were linked to cattle rustling.

Speaking to Citizen Digital on Thursday, Migori County Commissioner Joshua Chepchieng confirmed the incident, adding that 200 officers were deployed to calm the conflict in their neighbouring county.

He said their preliminary investigations have established that the discord was as a result of unresolved issues pertaining cattle theft.

Chepchieng said that they have scheduled a peace meeting aimed at reconciling the two groups.

He called for diplomatic conflict resolution, saying that insecurity only serves to derail development.
