One killed, three rescued after building collapses in Kericho

One person has died while three others were rescued following the collapse of a three-storey building in Chesanga village Kipchebor Ward, Kericho County.

The incident was confirmed by Kericho County Commissioner Jeremiah Mwai Gicheru, who said all relevant agencies from both levels of government were present and took part in the rescue operation.

Kericho County CECM for Public Service Jonathan Korir led the rescue operations, coordinating efforts among emergency responders and volunteers at the scene.

According to local authorities, the incident occurred earlier today, prompting an emergency response from rescue teams and members of the public who rushed to the scene.

The three survivors were pulled from the rubble and taken to nearby health facilities for treatment, while the body of the deceased was retrieved during the operation.

The cause of the collapse has not yet been established, but investigations are underway. Authorities have urged developers to adhere to construction standards to prevent similar incidents.
