One killed, 12 injured in Migori accident

One person died and 12 others were injured on Thursday after a vehicle they were travelling in overturned at Nyamome area on Migori-Muhurubay road  in Migori County.

Confirming the incident, Migori OCPD Patrick Kingori Macharia said the victims were heading to a burial when one of the rear tyres of the pick-up they were in burst.

The OCPD said the deceased was a 32-year-old man, adding that the injured, who included the matatu driver, were rushed to various medical facilities within Migori County.

According to the OCPD, the vehicle had just left a mortuary in Migori County where they had gone to collect the body for burial.

The damaged vehicle, which was behind the one carrying the coffin, was towed to the Migori Police Station.
