One person injured, several properties destroyed after fuel tanker explodes in Siaya

- The tanker was offloading fuel at the said petrol station when it abruptly burst into flames.
- The fire engulfed the petrol station before spreading to two adjacent shops which were burnt to ashes.
- Five motorcycles and a vehicle parked at the scene also burst into flames.
One person was injured while two shops and a petrol station were burnt at Ramula
trading center in Gem, Siaya County, following a petrol tanker explosion on
Thursday evening.
Confirming
the incident, Assistant Chief of Ramula sub-location Maurice Odine said that
the tanker was offloading fuel at the said petrol station when it abruptly
burst into flames.
The
fire, Odine added, engulfed the petrol station before spreading to two adjacent
shops which were burnt to ashes. Five motorcycles and a vehicle parked at the
scene also burst into flames.
A
12-year-old boy was injured during the incident and is currently
undergoing treatment at the Yala sub-county hospital.
