Siaya Governor James Orengo has dismissed a recent poll that ranked him among poor performing governors in mainstreaming development.

The poll by ISS Africa-Kenya showed Orengo was among those trailing the list with a 20.2% mark.

Speaking at the County headquarters on Wednesday, Orengo said his work is immeasurable, so he does not need to rely on "baseless polls" to be seen to be working.

He affirmed that he knows where he wants to take the County of Siaya in terms of development and can not be compelled to bribe any pollster to rank him at any position.

Orengo slammed his critics, led by Gem MP Elisha Odhiambo, for what he termed as soiling his name and denting his image in public gatherings. He asked the people of Siaya to ignore them.

The governor said his focus is to deliver the mandate for which he was elected, adding that he will not be swayed by any form of intimidation from UDA sympathizers.

The Siaya governor dared Odhiambo to resign from the ODM party and seek re-election in Gem instead of going round and round while criticizing its leadership.

Odhiambo is among the five ODM MPs who were recently expelled from the party following their close working relationship with President William Ruto’s UDA party and Kenya Kwanza administration.
