Interior Principal Secretary Engineer Karanja Kibicho said the fight against killer brews is bearing fruit.
speaking in Mwea, Embu County on Monday during the issuance of title deeds to the residents, Kibicho said over 15 million liters of illicit brews have been destroyed by the government since the ministry of interior launched the massive fight against the lethal drinks.
The PS said that the illicit brew menace has caused real damage to the youths, noting that over 50,000 youths have lost their lives due to illicit brews in the Mt Kenya region alone, a situation that has worried the nation.
Kibicho further said that various county commissioners and national administration officials have been sued by the brewers, insisting that the government will not be cowed by a few who are bent on destroying the youth.
“The government will not relent in ensuring that the community is saved from the wrath of a few who are enriching themselves using the blood of the dejected in society,” said Kibicho.
The PS also called on the community, the church, and the political class to support the national administration officials in the fight against the killer brews.
