Over 3,000 families evicted from disputed Voi land

Directors of Sparkle Properties Limited have appealed to Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome to intervene and help them resettle 300 families who were evicted from a disputed Voi land.

They say their plan to resettle the families has dragged on due to frustrations from the Taita Taveta County leadership, adding that their request to have land surveys, valuation and fencing of the 138 acre piece has not been approved by county government.

Over 3,000 families were evicted by Sparkle Properties Limited for allegedly invading the said piece of land, but the company directors say they have resolved to resettle about 300 families who pleaded with them due to their vulnerable situation.
