Three days after 12 people perished in a road accident in Subuiga area along Isiolo - Meru road, details have emerged that the bus involved in the accident was no ordinary bus but a customised luxury party mini bus for party lovers who enjoy such road trips.

From a stocked bar, sound system, DJ deck, dance floor and TV screens, the bus christened 'PartyonWheels' was one of a kind, but with all the party going on.

Investigations have revealed that the bus lacked a valid inspection report and Road Service Licence and was not supposed to be on the road at the time of the accident.

A glimpse at the 'PartyonWheels' bus is in a video shared on their Instagram page. It is fitted with a sink, bathroom, bar section, dance floor, TV screens, sound system and a DJ Deck is what ushers one into the customized luxury party bus.

The bus that was designed around March 2021 is one among vans and buses hired out by the party on wheels Kenya management through social media to party lovers traveling in Kenya and Tanzania.

Inside the bus is a warning sign to those boarding, notifying them that they reserve the right of taking and using their pictures and videos in marketing their businesses online.

The risky party affair inside the bus however came to an abrupt halt on Saturday night after it was involved in a road accident in Subuiga road along the Isiolo - Meru road.

The driver of the 'partyonwheels' bus is reported to have lost control of the vehicle before hitting a 14-seater matatu and a lorry. He was among three people who died from the 'partyonwheels' bus and nine other passengers who perished were from the matatu hit by the bus.

"The driver of the bus lost control and hit the emanating vehicle from the rear he also rammed another vehicle,” Laura Khatiebi, Deputy Sub-County Commander, Buuri West said.

Our investigations have further revealed that at the time of the accident the bus did not have a valid inspection certificate as the one it was using had expired on July 15th, 2021.

The vehicle, which operated as a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) by ferrying members of the public also lacked the Road Service License which contains the registration number, route served, contacts of the sacco, sacco name and expiry date of the license.

It remains a puzzle how the bus operated on the roads without the documents in the presence of traffic police officers.

Police in Buuri West are now investigating the matter, and have summoned the owner of the bus to record statement and shed light on its operations.
