Passenger who complained of fever dies inside Mombasa-bound bus

A middle-aged man had died inside a bus that was headed to Mombasa from Busia under unclear circumstances.

Makueni Deputy County Police Commander, Justus Kitetu confirmed the incident saying the passenger died on the wee hours of Thursday night.

The passenger bus had made an overnight stopover at Malili in compliance with the daily curfew. The journey was to continue on Friday morning.

The bus had at least 32 passengers.

Passengers would later realize that the passenger was no more, with the sister to the deceased saying her brother had earlier on, complained of a high fever.

Health Officers from Makueni swung into action after reports of the unusual death went out, with the bus getting fumigated on Friday morning.

Passengers were allowed to proceed with their travel after the fumigation but were advised to self-isolate upon arrival.

The body of the deceased has been moved to the Machakos Level V Hospital mortuary.
