Pastor Ezekiel files application to bar Magistrate Court from ruling on his detention

Pastor Ezekiel Ombok Odero of New Life Prayer Centre

Pastor Ezekiel Odero has filed an application at the High court seeking to have a magistrate court stopped from delivering a ruling on whether he should be detained for 30 days or not. In the application Ezekiel wants the ruling arrested and order for his immediate release.

While defending New Life Prayer Centre and Church, Ezekiel argues that the church is well organized and has disassociated himself with Pastor Paul Mackenzie.

“I would wish to strongly disassociate myself from one Mr. Paul Mackenzie as we do not have any close family or friendly ties,” reads the affidavit.

Pastor Ezekiel Odero has asked the investigators to stop dragging him into matters that he is unconnected to, saying that he is has never transported dead bodies to Shakahola.

He says that the application to have him detained in court for 30 days is an evil creation by individuals and he believes that it is politically motivated by persons with ill motives.

Pastor Ezekiel has dismissed allegation that he owns a mortuary that is close to his ministry.

”New life Prayer Centre and Church does not have a grave yard or a cemetery. And that the only grave yard that is outside the church expansive compound belongs to the community that sold us the land to us,” he says.

He argues that his teaching and focus in and out of church are completely different with those of Mackenzie.

He has refuted claims that he bought a TV channel from Mackenzie after facing frustrations with Mackenzie and that Mackenzie TV channel had a liability of 5 million shillings and was confined to Kilifi County only.

“That as a result on desire to have TV station whose frequency was national. I negotiated new offers with Pang leading to the birth of World Evalengism Tv and consequently abandoning the oral agreement between myself and Me.Mackenzie,” says pastor Ezekiel.

In his affidavit he say that he started his ministry in the year 2010 and registered the church as New Life Prayer Centre and Church in the year 2012.

The pastor says that he was stationed at Mtwapa before shifting to Mavueni –Kilifi in March 2022. He says that he is involved in fight against illiteracy and poverty and that he is currently stablishing an International School and University which has created and offered job opportunities for the people in Mavueni and its environs.
