Pepper-eating couple lock lips to break world record for hottest kiss

A Canadian couple, Mike and Jamie Jack have broken the world record for the longest hot kiss.

The couple took part in a habanero pepper kiss challenge, in which they ate the pepper and locked their lips for 15 minutes and 6.5 seconds.

The previous record of 90 seconds was set by Evan and Curly in 2016 when they participated in a habanero pepper kiss challenge on Bachelors in Paradise.

Mike is no stranger to breaking records, as he holds records for eating some of the world's hottest peppers, including Carolina Reapers and ghost peppers, according to Guiness World Records (GWR).

With fond memories of past achievements, Mike reveals that he wanted to help his partner, Jamie, break the world record as well.

“I have broken a bunch of Guinness World Records titles, but Jamie wanted to break one too,” said Mike.

Jamie had to practice for about a month to build tolerance after eating the spicy habanero before reaching for a glass of water because she was not yet a 'pro' in the field.

Mike reveals that he and Jamie practiced for about a month before they were confident in their ability to win the challenge.

Families and friends were happy for the couple, but more jubilant for Jamie, as this was her first word record break.

According to Mike, his best moment during the challenge was the entire 15 minutes.

“The best part was that we got to kiss each other for 15 minutes,” Mike said.

The couple intends to break another record for the longest Bhut Jolokia chilli pepper kiss, but Mike says Jamie must put in more effort.

Mike advises aspiring record-breakers to prepare well enough before attempting a similar challenge.
