Peter Salasya: You will never want to leave Kenya after visiting other countries

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya has claimed that Kenya is the best country to live in, save for the high prices of fuel that have led to a rise in the cost of living.

Salasya, who has been on a tour of several African countries, said wherever he has visited, the cost of living there reminds him that Kenya is the best country to live in.

The MP, writing from South Africa, compared the price of a pair of shoes he was wearing, saying it is Ksh4000 more in South Africa compared to Kenya.

"Yes it's developed in South Africa but life is expensive . Kiatu kaa yangu hii in Kenya is 5000 shillings in Cape Town here is 900 Rands which is equivalent to 9000 Kenya shillings," Salasya said.

He went on to add that if the cost of fuel is lowered in Kenya, no one would want to leave the country for greener pastures.

"Shida ya Kenya sahizi ni mafuta tu pekee if we can lower prices of fuel in Kenya I can tell you for free you will never want to leave Kenya. I was in Ghana, Morroco, Tanzania, South Sudan now in South Africa. Aki muache tu tupende Kenya yetu it's the best," Salasya said further.

The government of Kenya in mid-October revised the price of fuel to a record high in the history of the country, with a litre of petrol now retailing at Ksh218.

This has seen the cost of living go up in the country, much to the disappointment of many Kenyans.

The government says the increase is a result of a hike in global fuel prices.
