The office of the Ombudsman is investigating claims that a chief poured hot liquid on an elderly woman in Eldoret.

Ombudsman Chairperson Florence Kajuju said officers in Eldoret are on the ground to ascertain the authenticity of a photo of the said chief that was trending on social media.

“We will take necessary action against the chief if it is true he did that,” she told Radio Citizen on Sunday.

It is alleged that the chief is from Turbo Constituency in Uasin Gishu County.

In the undated photo, the man is seen pouring a light-brownish liquid on the woman who is seated on a wooden bench.

An unidentified man in a blue sweatshirt and jeans is also seen in the background.

President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Nelson Havi added: “Don’t worry, soon enough the people will get tired of this nonsense and renegotiate the social contract. All they need id more of this oppression for them to reach their tare weight. Let the oppressor continue loading the weight.”

Moja Benjamin, a Legal Consultant & Lecturer at University of Kigali, Rwanda said: “Whatever the brew was (whether alcoholic or none), it is barbaric! Can we possibly get this hooligan apprehended asap? I hope the person who took the shot can state the location. Huu mchezo wa polisi lazima ukome hata kabla ya Corona.”
