Four robbery suspects were on Saturday apprehended in Njoro, Nakuru County after they were linked to two robbery incidents in Naivasha and Gilgil areas.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), two suspects identified as Evans Mwangi Njenga, 45 and Geoffrey Kamau Hinga, 53, were intercepted by detectives from Nairobi and Nakuru while driving a stolen truck.

The duo is said to have been driving towards Njoro town to meet their two suspected accomplices; Peter Wahinyo Wanyoike, 45 and Julius Gichagu Wanguno, 32.

Officers managed to stage the arrest of the remaining two as they allowed the meet-up to go on as planned.

"It was further established that the said truck had been robbed in Gilgil at Elementaita area when the driver who had been hired to offer transport services was abducted, sodomized and left tied up at a construction site within Punda Milia section yesterday, Friday 23," said DCI in a statement.

The accosted driver is also said to have been robbed of Ksh.55,000 and his mobile phone by a six-member gang who disabled the lorry tracker before disappearing.

He was rushed to Gilgil Sub-County Hospital for treatment.

Meanwhile, the truck has been impounded at Njoro Police Station where the four are detained as ongoing investigations to arrest the remaining accomplices are underway.
