Police arrest 6 Makueni MCAs protesting over new school principal
Police have arrested six members of Makueni County Assembly who stormed St. Joseph’s Girls, Kibwezi in an attempt to block a new principal from taking over.
The MCAs were arrested on Thursday afternoon when they had gone to meet Ministry of Education officials at the school.
There was drama when police were forced to use teargas and even beat up several of the MCAs who stormed the institution. Students were also caught up in the melee after they staged a walkout protesting the new headteacher.
Trouble started brewing last week when the school’s board of management locked the principal’s office protesting the matter.
The six are being detained at Kibwezi police station.
