Police have recovered the missing vehicle of Kitui Deputy Governor Wathe Nzau and arrested the driver who had disappeared with the car.

Mr. Nzau’s official car was found abandoned in Kiembeni area, Mombasa County on Monday after it was reported stolen on Thursday last week.

Mombasa County Police Commander Johnson Ipara said the vehicle was found parked outside a bar in Bamburi area after a tip-off by area residents.

According to the locals, the car, a Land Cruiser Prado, had been at the spot it was found for the last three days.

The police boss said the driver, Anthony Milei, was locked up after surrendering to police at Kiembeni Police Station.

Mr. Ipara added that the suspect will be transferred to Kitui where he is set to be charged over the incident.

The suspect is said to have vanished with the car soon after taking the deputy governor to the requiem mass of the pupils who perished in a road accident in Mwingi.
