Police boss accused of shooting student released on bond

The Chief Inspector of Police accused of killing a university student in Kisumu has been released on bond.

Sebastian Ambani was arrested two weeks ago in connection with the death of Brian Chacha Wakabwa at a Kisumu bar.

After appearing before High Court Judge Fred Ochieng on Wednesday, he was released on Ksh.500,000 bond and two sureties of the same amount.

Justice Ochieng also ordered the accused to refrain from making any contact with the witnesses directly or indirectly including the family of the deceased.

This is after the Prosecutor Gloria Baraza raised concerns that they had reports that the accused was threatening witnesses lined up to testify in the case.

The hearing of the case will begin on September 4.
