Police Inspector dies, four others injured in Kakamega accident

A police inspector attached to the Khayega Police Station in Kakamega County died on Sunday when a car he was driving collided with an oncoming vehicle. 

Inspector Alexander Leshan was on the wheel, together with colleagues Inspector Bob Odhiambo and Police Constable Peter Ekai of DCI Shinyalu, when he lost control of the Toyota Fielder and collided with an oncoming Prado on the Kakamega-Kisumu highway. 

Inspector Leshan sustained serious injuries in the accident, and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital where the victims were rushed to. 

His colleagues Okumu and Ekai sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Prado also sustained minor injuries and complained of chest pains. 

A lady who was caught up in the accident sustained serious injuries and is admitted to the hospital. 

The vehicles were towed to the Kakamega Police station as investigations into the accident commence.
