Police intensify hunt for main suspect in abduction of Komarock businessman

Police officers in Kayole are hunting down a suspect who allegedly issued death threats to a businessman in Komarock who was later abducted on Thursday last week at a carwash.

Joseph Ndegwa Kamau, a renowned land seller in Nairobi and its environs, is said to have gotten into a deal with the suspect to sell a plot in Kitengela. However, the suspect who is on the run opted out and started demanding a refund of Ksh.350,000. Kamau had promised to pay the money by Thursday this week.

On the day of his abduction, Kamau visited his favourite joint at the Komarock junction where he was to meet some business associates as his vehicle got cleaned.

A car cleaner who spoke on condition of anonymity told Citizen Digital that as Kamau was leaving his car, a double cabin pick-up, when three men armed with a pistol and police shackles approached the carwash, ordered Kamau in and they sped off.

The incident has since been reported at Kayole police station under 0B number 106.12.10 1926hrs.

Investigating officers say they are zeroing in on the suspect who issued the threats noting that he snubbed their Monday summons. On Tuesday (yesterday), the police set up a plan to arrest him but he evaded it solidifying his connection with the abduction.

Nancy Wanjiru Ndegwa, wife to the businessman has made it a daily ritual to visit the abduction scene with the hope that holy winds might blow her husband her way and reunite the family. Her hopes though, are dwindling with every sunset.

Narrating how the incident has affected their children, a teary Nancy said, "To whoever has him, or wherever he is, we just want to have my husband and father of my kids in one piece."

The suspect is still making calls to the family asking for his money. DCI officers are analyzing phone records of the businessman to establish whether they can trace his whereabouts.
