Police Issue Ban On Motorbikes

The rising use of the boda-boda as thugs’ preferred mode of transport to and from crime scenes is behind the directive limiting the motorbike operating hours from 6am-8pm. Nairobi police chief Benson Kibue blamed motorbike operators for the proliferation of crime in the city and its environs. But as sally Mbilu reports, boda boda operators have complained that the directive will kill their businesses even as the inspector general of police, David Kimaiyo clarified that boda bodas will be restricted to 6:00am to 6:00pm.
