Police officer dies in road accident while heading to mother-in-law’s burial

A family in Kisumu County suffered a double tragedy last week after their kin died in a road accident while heading to his mother-in-law’s burial.

Police Constable Fredrick Mutuku attached to Central Police Station in Kisumu was granted five days off duty on Friday to attend the burial of his mother-in-law on Saturday, October 5 but did not reach home as was expected.

The relatives got concerned and began a search that would end at Ahero Sub-County Hospital mortuary where they found Mutuku’s body on Sunday afternoon.

According to police in Kisumu, the officer perished in a road accident involving a Nairobi-bound bus and a trailer on Friday night at around 11pm.

The deceased officer hails from Mutomo Sub-county, Kenze village where he was traveling to on that fateful night.
