Police officer killed, two others shot and injured in Kisumu

According to a police report seen by Citizen Digital, a team of security officers acting on tipoff laid an ambush for the suspect at his house in an apartment at Pap Onditi.

The suspect armed with an AK47 rifle and suspected to be behind a spate of robberies in Kisumu, Homa Bay and Migori Counties, started shooting indiscriminately at the officers from the second floor house where he had recently rented. 

Police officers then engaged the suspect in a shootout before he escaped on a motorcycle but with gunshot wounds.

Amid the gunfire exchange, a police chief inspector was shot on his left hand while his colleague, a corporal, suffered gunshot injury on the right thigh and chest. The two are admitted at Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching in stable condition.

The scene was processed by a team of scene of crime officers from the DCI and body transferred to Star hospital mortuary.

Meanwhile, a multi agency operation has been mounted in the area and it's environs to nab the suspect.
