Police officers in court over patient shooting at Mwingi hospital

Two police officers suspected to have shot dead a patient who was admitted at Mwingi Hospital were presented to a Machakos Court on Monday.

The prosecution team requested the court to deny the media permission to take pictures of the suspects as they requested for 10 more days to complete investigation.

“Since we are going to have an identification parade in 10 days time, we request the media not to take pictures because once they are published, they will interfere with the investigation,” Machakos Court Deputy Registrar Lucy Kaitany requested.

Before the two suspects were brought to the court, Ms Kaitany, seated at the Magistrates Court, asked journalists to excuse themselves before the court doors were locked.

“I hereby accept conditions of the application which have been made today and will only be recorded in court camera. I also request that no photographs be taken for publication of the media,” she said.
