In a statement, the National Police Service (NPS) said the weapons were seized during ongoing operations aimed at curbing the proliferation of illicit firearms in the two counties, which have for years been affected by banditry and cattle rustling.
The NPS said the crackdown is part of a broader multi-agency security effort to disrupt criminal networks and restore peace in areas that have experienced recurrent armed violence.
“This recovery marks a significant step in our efforts to dismantle illegal arms networks and protect innocent lives,” the police said, adding that the operations are expected to reduce violent crimes that threaten the safety and livelihoods of local communities.
Police said security operations will continue in hotspot areas, warning that officers will maintain sustained pressure against the possession and use of illegal firearms.
Authorities also appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies by sharing information, noting that community support is critical to achieving lasting peace in the region.
