Police reforms: Uhuru gives Matiang’i, Boinnet 30-day deadline
President Uhuru Kenyatta has given Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and the Inspector General of Police, Joseph Boinnet 30 days to come up with a strategy to improve service delivery in the National Police Service.
In a bid to also improve the well-being of the police, President Kenyatta on Tuesday also asked Matiang’i and Boinnet to look into the housing problem; one of the major problems faced by the law enforcers.
“I have directed CS Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to provide me with a comprehensive policy framework and strategy on how to improve efficiency and effectiveness in the National Police Service and equally address the persisting housing problem in the next 30 days,” said Kenyatta.
President Kenyatta was speaking at State House, Nairobi, where he honoured a number of police officers with Head of State commendations.
Congratulations to our gallant police men and women for your sacrifice, courage and bravery in serving our country. Your service is one of the greatest contributions to this country. It is my pleasure to award you the Head of State Commendation. pic.twitter.com/iy0G7st1JN
