Politicians perpetuating incitement should be barred from running for office, says Kanini Kega
Kega, addressing journalists in Nyeri on Sunday, termed the utterances as unfortunate and called for anyone found guilty of incitement to be barred from running for office.
Kega also compelled Deputy President William Ruto, in whose rally Linturi made the remarks, to come out and condemn the utterances, arguing that Linturi’s remarks could well be representative of the DP’s UDA camp.
The Azimio la Umoja allied MP added that Linturi’s remarks had imbued fear in the Rift Valley region, as the same utterances were made before the 2007 General Election that was followed up by violence.
The legislator further pointed fingers at Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua who was allegedly calling for the transfer of the area county commissioner earlier.
Kega claimed such demands were meant to intimidate voters, saying that every Kenyan has the freedom to live in any part of the country.
