Ponty Pridd Holdings has fulfilled its commitment to promoting gender diversity in the transport and logistics sector by celebrating the graduation of 31 women from its innovative "She Delivers" initiative.

This programme is intended to provide women with essential skills in areas such as truck driving, ICT software engineering, mechanics, and supply chain management, with the goal of breaking down longstanding barriers in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

This six-month training initiative, launched in 2023, is now in its second cycle, and participants will gain comprehensive technical knowledge in fleet operations, safety standards, and leadership development.

The programme also includes hands-on industry placements with top logistics companies, giving graduates invaluable practical experience and insights into real-world challenges.

Anthony Wainaina, Managing Director of Ponty Pridd Holdings, congratulated the graduates on their dedication and hard work, emphasising that the program's goals go beyond training skilled drivers to developing future leaders and changing societal perspectives.

"These 31 women have demonstrated remarkable commitment throughout this rigorous program. 'She Delivers' is not solely focused on logistics; it is about empowering women to pursue leadership roles and drive meaningful change within the industry," he stated.

Despite the fact that women make up only 30% of the logistics workforce in many African countries, and even fewer hold leadership positions, Ponty Pridd Holdings is committed to changing this dynamic.

The programme includes personal development modules on emotional intelligence, effective communication, and work-life balance strategies, with the goal of increasing female participation while also ensuring their continued growth and success in the field.

With a bold vision to empower 1,000 women in transport and logistics, Ponty Pridd Holdings is actively advocating for increased financial support, broader industry collaborations, and policy changes to broaden and sustain the initiative's impact.
