According to a statement from State House, the aim of the Lomé Conference is to make maritime space the key driver of Africa’s economic and social development.

The Heads of State and Government of the African Union member states will hold discussions with experts and leaders from the business world in order to establish a road map on Maritime Security in Africa.

The statement says the AU summit in Togo is aimed at adopting a binding charter on maritime security in order to put in place an African strategy for the protection of its seas and oceans.
