President Kenyatta Inspects Tsavo River Super Bridge

President Kenyatta – who was accompanied by his deputy William Ruto – was shown around by Kenya Railways officials in charge of the project.
The Tsavo River Super Bridge is situated within the Tsavo National Park and is the central stake for the SGR.
It is a post-tensioned prestressed concrete structure and has 60 spans with 32 meters long of each span.
The bridge will cross over the existing meter gauge railway at the Tsavo River. The total crossing length is 1987.69 meters.
The bridge is supported by 215 bored piles, 43 pile caps, 18 open excavation foundations, 59 bridge piers and two bridge platforms.
The bearing abutment is a solid round concrete structure.
So far, 53 of the 215 bored piers have been completed.
