President Ruto appoints new deputy IG in changes to the National Police Service

President William Ruto has made new appointments within the senior ranks of the National Police Service.

In the new changes communicated by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, the President has appointed Douglas Kanja Kirocho as the Deputy Inspector-General, Kenya Police Service.

Kanja, who was previously the General Service Unit (GSU) Commandant, takes over from Edward Mbugua who retired recently.

At the same time, Gideon Munga Nyale has been appointed to be Commandant at Kiganjo Police Training Institute, taking over from Bruno Shioso who the President has appointed as the new Director-General of the Kenya Coast Guard Service.

The Head of State also appointed Eliud Kipkoech Lagat to be the Commandant, General Service Unit and Ranson Lolmodoni to be the Director of Operations in the National Police Service.

The appointments have been made in line with recommendations from the National Police Service Commission.
