President William Ruto has said he is willing to work with Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka – whenever he is ready.

During a church service in Kitui County on Sunday, Ruto responded to calls from Ukambani leaders, who asked him to accommodate Kalonzo in his government.

The Head of State said he has always been open to working with the Wiper leader, whenever he (Kalonzo) will be ready.

“You have talked about the issues of my brother Stephen(Kalonzo Musyoka). He is my elder brother and whenever he is ready to work with me, I am ready to work with him,” Ruto said.

“I told you this when I was here…if you remember. I told you if God makes it possible for me to form government, I will look for my brother Stephen and involve him in running government,” he added.

President Ruto further detailed that he has held talks with Kalonzo, but he (Kalonzo) is still persistent on being in the opposition.

“I want you to know that I have looked for Stephen, sat down with him…told him ‘here is the government, let us work together’ he told me he wants to try opposition first. So, let him try opposition first then we see where he gets, then we can talk later. There is no problem, even opposition is work, it also helps us to move Kenya forward,” Ruto said.

At the church service, Kitui Governor Julius Malombe and his Machakos counterpart Wavinya Ndeti called upon the President to work with Kalonzo.

The two vowed to work with Ruto’s government, even though the region largely voted in favour of Azimio la Umoja’s Raila Odinga in the August 2022 General Election.
