President Ruto, leaders, mourn passing of journalist Catherine Kasavuli

President William Ruto has mourned the death of veteran TV journalist Catherine Kasavuli who passed away on Thursday night. She was battling cancer.
In a series of tweets on Friday, Ruto paid homage to Kasavuli whom he described as a gifted journalist who will be dearly missed.
"Let us therefore celebrate the life of a talented pioneer who famously excelled in her profession, entrancing the nation with her talent and extraordinary poise. I pray that God comforts her family in this time of mourning and that her soul rests in eternal peace," said Ruto.
His thoughts were echoed by deputy president Rigathi Gachagua who described the deceased as the perfect role model for aspiring journalists.
"Rest well, Catherine I have learnt of the passing on of award-winning broadcaster Catherine Kasavuli with sadness. Catherine, a veteran newscaster, has been consistent in her art and has inspired and mentored many journalists," said Gachagua.
"Due to her contribution to the growth of the industry, Catherine was inducted into the Lifetime Achievement Award in May 2022 during the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA). I pass my greatest sympathies to her family, colleagues, and friends. May her Soul rest in Peace and perpetual light shine upon her forever."
National Assembly speaker Moses Wetangula likewise mourned the legendary journalist.
"Saddened by the demise of the Legendary Kenyan Journalist and Broadcaster Catherine Kasavuli who graced our TV. screens in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. My sincere condolences to her family, relatives and friends during this difficult moment," said Wetangula in a tweet.
"Catherine contributed immensely in the country through the media by propelling the socio-economic development agenda and keeping the government of the day in check as she served in the fourth estate for a long period of time. Ms. Kasavuli leaves behind a legacy to be emulated by young Journalists as a determined person who passionately served the country with zeal and utmost professionalism."
