Ahead of his scheduled tour of the Mt. Kenya region next week, President William Ruto on Monday convened a crucial consultative meeting with leaders from the area.

The meeting was attended by Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, governors from the region, several cabinet secretaries, and principal secretaries.

Sources familiar with the discussions indicated that the leaders reviewed several stalled projects within Mt. Kenya and urged the president to expedite their revival.

Additionally, they raised concerns over the recent increase in water tariffs across multiple counties, arguing that the rising costs were making the essential commodity unaffordable for many residents.

In a statement, State House noted that the meeting focused on development projects aimed at accelerating growth, addressing local needs, and ensuring that all Mt. Kenya residents benefit from the government’s agenda.

Leaders also shared insights on the region’s most pressing issues and identified key programs designed to drive economic transformation.

President Ruto emphasized the importance of aligning regional priorities with national objectives to effectively tackle the challenges facing the people of Mt. Kenya.
