President Ruto launches Toyota Fortuner local assembly line in Mombasa

President William Ruto is in Mombasa this Saturday afternoon to launch the Toyota Fortuner local assembly line at the associated vehicle assembler in the county.

The Head of State will then proceed to commission the Kenya National Shipping Line Shupavu, at the Mombasa Kenya Shipyard Limited.

Among those present at the event are Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi, CSs Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport), Moses Kuria (Trade), Aden Duale (Defence), Council of Governors chairperson Anne Waiguru, Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir, Speaker of the Senate Amason Kingi, National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichungwah, Kenya Ports Authority officials among others.

During the launch, Ruto said, "Boosting performance and productivity of the Port of Mombasa are critical in accelerating our economic growth, particularly through improved export volumes."

The president is on a five-day tour of the Coastal region that began on Thursday where he will be covering Lamu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale and Tana River Counties.

The development tour will mainly focus on projects in the Blue Economy and Fisheries sector in Mombasa, Ukunda, Ngao and Mukowe.
