President Ruto's UDA gets lion’s share of political parties' fund after being allocated Ksh.577M
President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party is set
to reap big in the political parties’ fund after being allocated over half a billion
shillings.
This is according to a gazette notice by Registrar of Political Parties
Ann Nderitu dated November 2, 2022, allocating funds to 48 political parties
for the financial year 2022/2023.
Ms. Nderitu said the funds will be disbursed quarterly, adding that it
could however be reviewed based on two factors.
The first being by-elections in 5 wards which were postponed, and which
she said if concluded will have an effect on the allocations, with the change
being effected in the subsequent quarter.
The 5 wards are; Kyome/ Thaana Ward, Oloimasani
Ward, Mumias North Ward, South Gem Ward, and Utawala Ward.
“The Government has initiated the process of the re-alignment (budget
cut) of the FY 2022/23 budget, and if the current allocated amount of
Ksh.1,475,000,000 is affected by the budget alignment it will have an impact on
the allocations,” noted the Registrar.

Odinga’s Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) which is set to receive Ksh.308,260,679.
